Сlosing ceremony of the VIII Congress of VOGiS

On June 19, 2024, after six days of intense and fruitful work, the closing ceremony of the VIII Congress of VOGiS took place, at which its chairman, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences I.A. Tikhonovich and Scientific Secretary, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.A. Nizhnikov summed up the preliminary results, thanked the organizers, partners and participants.

According to statistics, 1,180 people have pre-registered to participate in the event, and more than 700 abstracts have been submitted.

Young scientists made up more than 60% of the participants.

93 applications were submitted for participation in the competition of Young scientists, among which 28 winners were selected, who received the opportunity to make an oral presentation and financial support.

Since the opening of the website of the international congress "VIII Congress of the Vavilov Society of Geneticists and Breeders dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Russian Science and Higher Education" in November 2023, it has been visited by 27,487 unique users from more than 60 countries.

Within the framework of the Congress, a Delegate Meeting of the NGO VOGiS was held, the participants of which chose the composition of the leadership of VOGiS for a five-year period until the next IX Congress of VOGiS in 2029. At the final meeting of the Congress on June 19, 2024, a Resolution of the Congress was adopted, as well as a decision to make technical changes to the Charter in connection with the change in the location of the governing bodies of VOGiS.

FACE-TO-FACE ATTENDANCE STATISTICS:

  • More than 700 people took part in the VIII Congress of VOGiS in person
  • About 300 oral presentations were made
  • Almost 400 poster presentations were presented
