Ilya Artemyevich Zakharov-Gezekhus is an Honored Scientist of Russia, Doctor of Biological Sciences, whose professional interests are concentrated in the fields of general genetics, genetics of microorganisms, genetics of insects, evolution and ecology. One of the main achievements of the scientist is the discovery of a new genetic phenomenon – cytoduction. The founder of the scientific school of comparative genetics, which began to form in the mid-1960s.
